Welcome to Chawn Hill Church website! We hope you find everything you need to about the church.
Chawn Hill Church is a vibrant church community with currently around 300 people and growing. The church is made up of a variety of people from all walks of life and we seek to serve everyone in helping them become disciples of Jesus.
Our vision is simply to be a church that Jesus is building and where everyone is welcomed.
Below is a painting called 'Trinity' by Andrei Rublev - This was part of a recent power point presentation by Alex Dudbridge at a Chawn meeting.
About: Its by Andrei Rublev- who was a Russian artist. He was around about late 14th- early 15th C. Its entitiled 'Trinity'.
It is designed to take you to the Communion table. There is a strong sense of inclusion. This is seen in the way the figures diplay an openness of body language; their feet point towards the viewer and their faces are turned outwards in a very inviting manner.
Brief explanation: The Father is represented on the left, Christ in the centre and the Spirit on the right.
The Father: Wears a blue garment that is almost hidden by a ethereal robe. Both hands clasp the staff, creating a sense of authority. It is also noticed that both the head of Christ and the Spirit are bowed towards the Father. Behind the figure is a house. "In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you" (John 14:2) NASB.
Jesus: The figure wears the blue of divinity. The brown garment perhaps speaks of the earth - of His humanity. The gold strip indicates kingship. Behind the figure is what seems to be a tree. This could be interpreted in may different ways. It may represent the cross, indicate the 'true vine' etc. etc.
The Spirit: Wears a blue robe speaking of divinity and a green robe perhaps representing new life. Behind the figure is a mountain. Mountains were places where people often encountered God- places where heaven and earth seem to meet!
